What This Service Involves

Portuguese laurel is a more refined, slower-growing alternative to English laurel, prized in Puget Sound gardens for its smaller dark-green leaves and distinctive reddish stems. Because growth is more restrained, it holds a formal shape beautifully and needs less frequent trimming, but precise cuts matter to keep those clean lines. We shape by hand where the smaller leaves would show shear damage and maintain a slight taper so the base stays full and light-fed. This laurel is also more disease-resistant than its English cousin, though we still thin lightly to keep airflow moving in our wet climate.
