Interlocking Block Retaining Wall

A DIY-friendly mortarless wall of self-aligning interlocking blocks that quickly stabilizes short slopes in Northwest landscapes.

What This Service Involves

Interlocking retaining wall blocks feature a built-in lip or pin system that automatically sets each course back and locks it to the one below, producing a fast, consistent build for garden and yard-height walls. The mortar-free design flexes with the seasonal movement of saturated Puget Sound soils rather than cracking. We still install a gravel backfill zone and drainage behind the wall so our heavy rainfall drains away instead of pushing on the face. It is an economical, attractive solution for terracing and edging slopes around Western Washington homes.

Benefits

Fast, self-aligning installation; Mortarless design flexes with wet soils; Economical for short garden walls; Wide selection of colors and textures; Easy to extend, curve, or terrace

Our Process

1) Excavate and grade the slope; 2) Compact a level gravel base; 3) Lay and level the first interlocking course; 4) Stack courses while placing gravel backfill and drainage; 5) Set capstones and restore the finish grade

What Affects the Cost

Block style, color, and quantity; Wall height and length; Gravel base and backfill volume; Site access and excavation; Cap and finishing selections

Best Time of Year
