Drain Rock Installation

Clean, washed 3/4-inch rock engineered to move water fast through French drains, footings, and wet-yard fixes.

What This Service Involves

Drain rock is a washed, uniformly sized stone with the fines removed so water flows freely through the voids between pieces. It is the functional backbone of French drains, foundation footing drains, downspout dispersal, and soggy-yard remedies throughout the rainy Puget Sound region. While it serves a drainage purpose, its clean gray appearance also works as an attractive surface for utility strips and side yards. Properly installed drain rock keeps water moving away from structures during our long, saturated winters.

Benefits

Rapidly channels water away from foundations and low spots; Washed and screened for maximum void space and flow; Solves chronic wet-yard and drainage problems; Doubles as a clean surface for utility areas; Essential component for French and footing drains

Our Process

1) Excavate the drain trench or area to the required depth and slope; 2) Line the graded trench with filter fabric to prevent silt clogging; 3) Bed perforated pipe where needed within the fabric-lined trench; 4) Backfill with clean drain rock and wrap the fabric over the top

What Affects the Cost

Length and depth of trenching or excavation; Volume of washed drain rock required; Addition of perforated pipe and filter fabric; Site access and disposal of excavated soil; Delivery of clean, screened material

Best Time of Year

Drain rock projects are most urgent before the rainy season, but installing in the drier summer months makes trenching and grading far cleaner.
