Shaping Your Outdoors. Surpassing Expectations.
We cleanly strip out existing sod and haul it away to prepare your yard for its next landscape use.
Whether you are converting a tired lawn to native plantings, garden beds, or a patio, the old sod has to come out first. Our crews cut and lift turf in manageable strips, keeping the underlying soil largely intact for whatever comes next. In our wet climate we take care to remove the thatch and root mat that traps moisture and harbors moss, so the reclaimed ground drains and breathes properly. All removed material is loaded and hauled off, leaving a clean, level base ready for planting, hardscape, or fresh sod.
Clean, level surface prepared for the next project; Removal of moss-prone thatch and root mat; No disposal hassle since we haul everything away; Preserved topsoil for immediate reuse; Faster project timelines for follow-on landscaping
1) Mark utilities and outline the removal area; 2) Cut the turf into liftable strips with a sod cutter; 3) Roll and stack the strips for loading; 4) Rake out loose thatch and debris; 5) Haul off all material and leave a graded base
Area of turf to be stripped; Slope and accessibility of the site; Thickness and root density of the existing lawn; Volume of material for haul-off and dump fees; Any obstacles like sprinkler heads or edging
Sod removal works well year-round here, though the drier late-spring and summer months keep our saturated soils from turning to mud during the tear-out.
