What This Service Involves

Cobblestones are small, thick blocks of granite or basalt that deliver an old-world, European look and nearly indestructible durability. Their weight and depth let them carry vehicle traffic on driveways and aprons, while smaller sizes make handsome borders and tree-ring accents. In the Pacific Northwest their rough, riven faces provide grip on rainy slopes and hide the wear that shows on smoother surfaces. We set cobbles over a deep compacted base, either dry with polymeric-sand joints or mortared for a firmer, low-maintenance finish.

1) Confirm layout and drainage requirements; 2) Excavate and compact a deep aggregate base; 3) Screed a bedding course sized to the cobbles; 4) Hand-set cobbles to a consistent surface; 5) Fill joints with polymeric sand or mortar and compact
