Footing Drain Installation

We install perimeter footing drains around your foundation to collect subsurface water and keep it away from basement and crawl-space walls.

What This Service Involves

Footing drains protect the most vulnerable part of your home by relieving the hydrostatic pressure that builds against foundation walls in saturated PNW soil. We excavate down to the footing, place perforated pipe in a gravel envelope wrapped in filter fabric, and slope it to carry water away from the structure. The collected water is routed to a gravity outlet, dry well, or sump for discharge. This is essential for older homes with damp basements or crawl spaces that flood during our long, wet winters.

Benefits

Relieves hydrostatic pressure on foundation walls; Keeps basements and crawl spaces dry; Prevents long-term moisture and structural damage; Wrapped gravel envelope resists silting; Critical protection in saturated PNW soils

Our Process

1) Excavate along the foundation down to the footing level; 2) Clean the wall and apply waterproofing as needed; 3) Lay perforated pipe in a fabric-wrapped gravel bed; 4) Slope the drain to a gravity, dry-well, or sump outlet; 5) Backfill in lifts and restore the surface grade

What Affects the Cost

Linear footage around the foundation perimeter; Excavation depth to reach the footing; Waterproofing and membrane added to walls; Outlet method and discharge distance; Access constraints around the structure

Best Time of Year

Best scheduled in the drier summer season when deep foundation excavation stays stable and the work zone remains workable.
