What This Service Involves

Natural stone walls bring lasting, organic character to a landscape, and building them to last in the Northwest takes more than stacking rock. We set stone on a compacted base and, for retaining applications, integrate gravel backfill and drainage so winter groundwater never builds pressure behind the wall. Each stone is fitted and, where needed, mortared for stability against freeze-thaw movement and the weight of saturated soil. Whether a freestanding garden wall or a structural retaining wall, we build for both beauty and the demands of our climate.

1) Plan the layout, stone type, and wall purpose; 2) Excavate and compact a stable base course; 3) Set and fit stone with drainage and backfill; 4) Mortar or lock stones and finish the capstones
